A purchase of 49 glassines of heroin by an NYPD undercover officer led to an investigation that dismantled four drug organizations in the Bronx and Queens and one in Seattle, Washington. Twenty-seven drug traffickers in New York, including bosses in Seattle and Colombia, were named in an indictment charging them with conspiracy and top narcotics offenses. Over 100 pounds of cocaine, five pounds of heroin, 7,000 heroin glassines, two firearms, two bullet-proof vests, and drug paraphernalia were recovered. Major suppliers Gustavo Gomez and Seattle-based Alfonso Brooks worked directly for a Colombian cartel that supplied large-scale dealers in the Bronx and Queens. Among the customers were Juan and Amaury Soriano who in turn supplied kilogram weight narcotics to retail heroin operations on Morris Avenue in the Bronx.
