OSNP was one of the first prosecutorial agencies in the city to divert addicted non-violent felony drug offenders into treatment. The office remains committed to demand reduction and the placement of first-time and predicate drug offenders into numerous treatment programs. These programs aim to minimize public safety risk, maximize the likelihood of success of those in treatment, and accommodate populations with special needs including AIDS sufferers, MICA, adolescents and young adults.
DRUG TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES TO INCARCERATION TO PRISON (DTAP) places addicted predicate drug offenders in residential treatment programs.
PREGNANT ADDICTED - MOTHERS INTERVENTION & REHABILITATION (PAIR) places addicted female offenders who are pregnant or heads of households, either male or female, with underage children in the most appropriate treatment programs.
ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING PRE-INDICTMENT INTERVENTION & REHABILITATION EFFORT (ASPIRE) diverts into treatment defendants who are gainfully employed and who have strong community ties.
ADOLESCENT +TREATMENT EDUCATION EVALUATION NOW (A+TEEN) designed for non violent drug offenders between the ages of 16 to 21.
ALTERNATIVE TO INCARCERATION (ATI) diverts non-predicate felons who require residential treatment.
MANHATTAN TREATMENT COURT (MTC) in cooperation with the court and the NYC Department of Probation, provides drug treatment to non violent, first time felony narcotics drug addicted offenders.
INTERIM PROBATION SUPERVISION (IPS), in cooperation with the court and the NYC Department of Probation, places stringent conditions on probationary terms to closely supervised addicted, non violent offenders.
